SCIP Research

Using the SCIP in research

The SCIP is the only tool that transforms routine clinical information into research-ready

data. Psychiatrists evaluate thousands of patients daily, generating numerous

records—such as psychiatric evaluations and progress notes—primarily for clinical

management.

The SCIP retains its clinical management function while also producing data suitable for research in the following ways:

  1. The SCIP includes 18 clinician-administered scales, 15 self-administered scales, and research scales, covering a total of 264 items related to adult psychopathology, making it highly valuable for research.
  2. The SCIP’s screening scales are also applicable in epidemiological surveys.
  3. Clinicians in specialized clinics (e.g., those focused on anxiety, mood disorders, or thought disorders) can select relevant scales based on their specific needs.
  4. The SCIP scales are particularly well-suited for clinical trials and epidemiological studies.

By converting all psychiatric interviews into research data, the SCIP significantly enhances

opportunities for scientific inquiry.
