Standard for Clinicians' Interview IN Psychiatry (SCIP)

Who can use the SCIP?

Mental health professionals—such as psychiatrists, psychiatry residents, psychologists, therapists, clinical social workers, counselors, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, mental health researchers, and others—with at least one year of clinical experience (in settings like inpatient, outpatient, day hospital, or any facility that cares for patients with mental disorders) are eligible to use the SCIP scales in one of two ways: 

  1. Self-Trained SCIP Users: Mental health professionals who read the SCIP manual, watch the accompanying videos, and score at least 80% on the manual competency test are eligible to use the SCIP instrument.

            2. Formally-Trained SCIP Users: Mental health professionals who have successfully

                 completed the measurement-based care (MBC) training course offered by West Virginia

                 University (WVU) through their continuing medical education (CME) web courses are

                 also eligible to use the SCIP instrument.
